Event: The Festival Consort Presents:
Renaissance Glory

Summary:

The Festival Consort will present its annual concert of Medieval and Renaissance vocal and instrumental music featuring acclaimed soprano Carol Menke and countertenor Chris Fritzsche. Instrumentalists Joanna Bramel Young, David Hogan Smith, Alan Paul and Robert Cronin will add to the festivities by playing on consorts of recorders, crumhorns and shawms. Other instruments on the program are sackbut, pipe & tabor, guitar, curtal, douçaine, and a recently purchased set of schreyerpfeiffen. All of the instruments are authentic replicas. One of the members of the group, Robert Cronin, is an internationally known builder of shawms. David Hogan Smith is a master reed maker, who maintains all of the double reed instruments.

Works on the program include traditional carols, Medieval songs, works by Praetorius, de Cristo, Festa, and Clemens non Papa.
