| More Information: | On the fourth Friday (March 27), we offer our usual Taize worship, preceded by slide presentation and lecture by Kayleen Asbo. Taize is an offering of ecumenical worship based on the principles of the Taize Community in France. The service begins in Farlander Hall with a presentation and discussion of a saint, writer, or artist who speaks to us about the spiritual journey, followed by a candlelit contemplative service of chanting and silent meditation in the church. Healing prayer will be offered by the Caritas healing team, available in the side Marian chapel. All are welcome.
The other Friday evenings (March 6, 13, 20, and April 3) will begin with quiet, a contemplative worship, followed by conversation about the book Tokens of Trust by Rowan Williams. A labyrinth walk will close each evening. Tokens of Trust: An Introduction to Christian Belief (Westminster John Knox Press, 2007) guides readers through the central elements of Christian faith. One reviewer noted, "How rare to find someone who simultaneously is thoughtfully and constructively involved both with the main teachings of Christian theology (from the Bible through its formative periods to the present) and also with contemporary culture, politics, education and spirituality." Faith conversation in the context of contemplative worship is a beautiful way to mark the season of Lent. The book may be purchased at the bookstore at the Church of the Incarnation, ordered from Copperfield's Bookstore, or online. |
